Creanimaux Blocks

As soon as I saw these blocks in animal shapes, I knew they were the perfect gift for my son's 4th birthday. A toy that combined blocks AND animals in one couldn't have been more perfect for my son whose two loves are animals and blocks! I couldn't keep him away from the present as soon as he saw the cute animal wrapping paper that Oompa toys provides as a service (for a small fee) and both he and his sister literally jumped for joy when he saw the pictures on the box. These toys may be geared toward even younger ages, but my 4 year old and 6 year old love them. Interestingly enough, my son insists on putting them away in each individual bag according to animal, which is a "classification lesson" in itself.

<p>I foresee that these blocks will be a few of the very special toys that will go into future keepsake boxes to be played with for generations.

Out of my three children, I think these were best for my 18mo and my 2yo. My 5yo still had plenty of fun with them, but was determined to only match the animals built on the box. That could be just her personality, though. My youngest was more interested in just stacking and knocking them down, but was certainly intrigued by the shapes of various body parts and I can see these being a toy that will grow with her. The 2yo seemed to have the most fun, creating all sorts of crazy creatures.

These blocks are very well made, and the colors are bright and beautiful! I love that they are shaped differently than your standard square blocks with painted on tails and feet. No, these blocks are actually shaped like tails, heads, and feet! Even better, when first openning the box, you find that they are prepackaged as their initial animals pictured (came in handy with my 5yo). Each animal starts in its own bag of blocks needed to make the pictured animals.

Compared to other wooden block sets, I'd say these are the better value! Other sets are basic square and cylinder shaped blocks, possible with painted on images. These are comparable in price to those, but add variety in shapes and colors making them better than your typical block sets!

My nephew really enjoys playing with these blocks. they spark a lot of creativity and keeps his attention.

We love these animal blocks from Djeco. As many of the other reviews have stated they grow with your child. My children are 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 and they continue to play with them. My daughter the 4 1/2 year old especially loves to create silly looking animal combinations. They are well made and still look great after nearly a year of use.

These blocks are beautifully made, and perfect for toddler size hands; however, I think they're a bit difficult for children under 3 to use to create animals. My daughter is 22 months old, and she liked building creatively with these, but didn't have the attention span to sit and create the animals pictured on the box. Perhaps this is the magic of this toy--it grows with your child. My husband and I enjoyed building with these after our daughter went to bed!
