My 5 1/2 and 4 year old love this game! The socks are made of thick cardboard, and the clothespins and monster are made of durable wood and finished in bright colors. My sons love finding pairs, and then letting the monster mix everything up again!

I bought this for my 4 year old niece and it is quite fun! The rules of the game are great for 4 - 5 year olds. The matching is quite tricky, very detailed (there are red and blue striped socks that have a green rim and red and blue striped socks that have a yellow rim and you have to differentiate between the two) but doable for this age group. I love colors and material (everything is wood). It is a lot of fun and her mom reports she asks to play it on a regular basis (4 months later).

I play this game with my 4 year old, but we are not able to play by the regular rules just yet. It's a race to make sock matches, but the socks are just too similar for him to make that many somewhat quickly. If he were playing with other children, it would probably be fine. We've had to adapt the rules and change the way you receive the pins-1 for each match and placing less potential sock pairs in the game. It is nice that it's a game with growth potential. Plus, that little monster is just too too cute. (We use him to ward off other monsters in the bedroom.)

My daughter received this game just before she turned three. It has built her recognition skills and has been fun to observe the increase in her differential visual abilities.
It's also fun for all ages to play too, which is a real bonus. We have purchased many of these for gifts!

This matching game is a little challenging for my 4 year old son, although he enjoys looking through the socks and playing with the cute wooden monster. If my husband and I play with him, we give him a large handicap or just play cooperatively with everyone trying to find matching socks. It seems like a great game for older kids to play together, and I look forward to when he can play it with his younger sister.
