Orchard Game

This is our favorite Family Haba Game. While simple enough for a very young child (Suitable for preschoolers as only shape and color matching are required to achieve some independence in game play), Adults appreciate the quality construction (carved wooden fruit, beautiful drawings) and fast pace (the game only lasts 10 minutes). While every game has a winner, there is also an element of teamwork as we all play against the Raven.

My 89 year old grandmother gets a kick out of playing this game with her 2.5 year old great grandchild. They both enjoy rolling the nicely sized die, arranging the fruit, and joking about that pesky raven. I highly recommend this well-made, fun, cheerful game.

My children, ages five and three, absolutely love this game. They are smitten with the colorful wooden fruit and tiny baskets. But most of all they love to beat the crow. It never gets old for them. I love that its a cooperative game, not a competitive game. We all win or the crow wins and that makes it fun for everyone to play, even the three year old.

My just-turned-3 year old wants to play games but has had a hard time with the ones we've tried. Then we got Orchard! She loves everything about it! She understands how to play, she loves to pick fruit from the trees, and she even likes to choose a puzzle piece to lay on top of the raven! I highly recommend this game to anyone trying to introduce board games to young children! And I enjoy the simple, quality pieces and simple game play. Each game is only 10-15 minutes and it encourages team play. What else can I say - it's really great!

My two and four year olds love this game! It is simple enough for them to understand, yet doesn't completely bore me. Each player rolls the die and picks a fruit according the color rolled. You may also roll a raven on the die, in which case you put a piece in the raven puzzle. If the raven puzzle is completed before the players have gathered all of the fruit, the raven wins. The raven puzzle is frustrating for my children (and me!) the pieces are all square, so it's time consuming to figure out which piece goes where. To make it easier, I numbered the pieces and wrote the corresponding numbers on the puzzle board. The game board is also easy for a two year old to tear on the seem where it folds. We taped ours back together and it works fine."
