Fun to teach [4 OF 8 PEOPLE FOUND THIS HELPFUL]
It is nice to have a placemat that will allow for some learning time too. What attracted me to purchase two of these was that they are made of a safe plastic. I like that they are colorful, and the price can't be beat.

small correction.. as you see from the picture of the narwhal, it is a type of whale, not a bird. great place mat, introduces adults and kids to animal names. all the better if they don't know them, they can learn new words. have a peaceful day

Eat & Learn Alphabet at the Same Time [70 OF 146 PEOPLE FOUND THIS HELPFUL]
I purchased this as a meal mat for my 20-mo old daughter. Eating does not appeal to my daughter so this placemat allows us to have fun learning the alphabet and get her to eat at the same time (ok, it distracts her but whatever works). The only drawback is that some of the animals are unusual, for example, N is for Narwhal, which most child and adult do not know what it is (it is a bird). It would be nice if the animals are more familiar to kids. Otherwise, I would've rated a 5 star.

Of the six placemats I chose to order, this one was my sixth choice when I ordered them—but when I saw it in person it became one of my favorite (so hard to chose a favorite!) The animals are sweet and cheerful without being cartoonish. Some of the letters are represented by the expected animals—Alligator, Butterfly, Camel, but others are delightfully unexpected—Lemur, Moose, Narwhal. Who can resist the mysterious narwhal? I bought this to use as a placemat, but it’s so beautiful, I decided to hang it on the wall (with 3M poster strips) above my 10 month old’s little bookshelf. He claps and squeals while he’s looking at it, and I imagine it will entertain (and educate) him for several years to come.
