Blocks seem to be regarded as the most simple of toys. That may be true with common blocks, but the Master Builder Sets offer all the tools you need to build as complicated or as simple a structure as you like. Not simply for young children, the Master Builder System will appeal to children and adults alike. Mix styles to make one distinctly your own. The blocks are made of unfinished beech wood and will stand up to the test of time, as well as the test of a three-year old!
Classic columns, roof pieces and stairs take your structure back to the Greek and Roman Empires. Seize upon the concept of the "Greek Ideal" to grasp the essence of a form in a single glance. Columns can be added to an ordinary structure to give it a more stately look. A wonderful introduction to ancient architecture for young builders.

I'm a music teacher and collect toys. I love the Haba architectural block sets. They are so well crafted. This one builds up nicely. No instructions are included, so you have to figure it out yourself. (But that's half the fun!)

We got our son a set of these Antiquity Blocks for Christmas 2004, and he was almost 7 yrs. old. He was very happy to get them, and has built the building several times. There are no directions on how to build, you just follow the picture on the box. That worked fine with this set, but with the Baroque set, it was more of a challenge. The blocks are well made and smooth, smaller in scale than unit blocks. Overall, a nice building toy if your child wants a bit more style than what regular unit blocks provide. I liked the pillars in this set, and that the child makes a building that is pleasant to look at out of natural wood.
