Good idea - A little tricky to play with.

While I love the idea of a realistic egg sliding out of its shell, none of my kids have the coordination necessary to put the egg back together. It is tricky to open as well. We use the egg and the shell as two seperate toys, and everyone has a blast!

We got this as well as several other Haba food items for our kids for Christmas and this was one of their favorites. My three year old loves "cracking" the egg and frying it in her pan. It's actually the perfect size for little toy plates. I wish it came in a multi-pack for more fun. I plan to order a couple more because my older kids like playing with this, too. I have even been caught playing with it a couple of times.

Tough egg to crack

Very realistic idea and captivating to my almost three-year-old; just impossible for her to "crack" by herself. I try to leave it a bit ajar once I precisely fold up the egg and place it in the shell.
Now she is almost four and it is still too hard to grasp and open if completely shut, even for me.

Choking Hazard--Best for OLDER Kids

My almost 2-year old got the top half of the egg stuck in her mouth! She panicked, and luckily I was only a few feet away and I was able to remove it. Although this toy is adorable, it is best for children who no longer put anything in their mouths--or perhaps Haba should think about enlarging this toy to reduce possible choking accidents.
***Oompa Note*** We are relieved to hear that you daughter is well. Thank you for sharing your experience! Haba recommends this toy for children aged three and older, at the discretion of the immediate caregiver.

Lovely!

My kids eat eggs several times a week, so they are quite familiar with watching me crack the egg in the pan and cook it, which makes having one of their own so exciting! When I saw this product I knew I had to buy it and I was not disappointed. You can't find something like this anywhere else; sure, you might find the hard textured shaped sunny side up egg but I haven't found it with egg shell and all. I love watching them "cook" the egg for mommy. It really opens their imagination and creativity.
