This game is so cute! The kids really enjoy the game. They love the shapes of the checkers and the board that they have to put together. It would not be something to have around small children though. The pieces are small. Love the tin that the game is stored in, it is so much better than a cardboard box.

Great first checkers game [70 OF 172 PEOPLE FOUND THIS HELPFUL]
My son quickly picked up how to play and is learning strategy very quickly. I wouldn't classify this as a travel game as the pieces do slide on the game board and I wouldn't let him play it in the car. It is portable and tucks neatly into a backpack or even coat pocket. I love the HABA games that come in tins because they are easy to store, appealing to kids and adults, and it isn't easy to destroy the container!

Fun version of a classic game [151 OF 294 PEOPLE FOUND THIS HELPFUL]
This is one of the larger Haba travel tin games. The tin is about the size of two decks of cards. It could have been smaller with a different board design. The board also could have been made out of felt like the Haba tic-tac-toe game or with another slightly textured surface. As it is, the pieces don�t have much resistance and slide around easily. For that reason, I�m rating it 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, we really love this little game. The pieces lie flat on the board and stand upright when �queened�. The instructions that come with the game explain it well in a simple way for children to understand. It really is such a cute game, and my kids love that the pieces are fun instead of plain circles like most other checkers games.

My 5 year loves his checkers game! He takes it with him to the babysitter's and to friend's houses. He loves to engage anyone in it that he can. It is a little smaller than I expected, but that makes it easier to take along wherever he goes.
