Oompa’s Wooden Food
We’ve received so many questions about our play food that I thought it would be useful to devote an entire Oompa minute just about our play food collections. Oompa Toys offers two major play food options: one from Haba and the other from Erzi. Both are Germany-based companies, which is where the food is made.
How large or small is the wooden food?
These play food collections are not life-sized replicas of real-life food. They’re smaller in scale and sized for the small hands of a three- or four-year-old child. Both Haba and Erzi play food are similar in size, so they are interchangeable, meaning you can select a few pieces from Haba, a few pieces from Erzi, and they will be generally the same size.
What are the age recommendations?
Haba and Erzi recommend their play food for ages three or older because it is around these ages that children generally stop mouthing objects. Our play food collections are potential choking hazards for children under three. While we do have reviews on the site from parents who have given these toys to children below the manufacturer’s recommended age, this is not something I or anyone at Oompa Toys recommends. The ultimate recommendation is actually made by the manufacturer, and we at Oompa Toys pass that recommendation on to you, our customers.
