We've had this toy since my daughter was 10 months old. She is now 12 months, still can't stack it but she loves taking it apart. But most of all she loves to hold the center pole and wave it, shake it, transfer it from hand to hand. She'd crawl around still clutching it and now walks around holding it. When she's frustrated many times all I have to do is distract her with the chicken stacker.

I purchased Maman Poule for my son's first birthday and I love it! It's certainly a piece that can be displayed on a shelf (when it's not being stacked of course) for many years. We found the removable rod to be a bit inconvenient so we glued it down. Our little one loves to roll the rod & base around on the floor. Such a beautiful toy, I love the color scheme, the smooth finish, and the whole chicken!

Our 15-month-old son has had this chicken stacker for many months now. He still delights in finding the egg hidden underneath her. After he removes the rings, he loves to tip the post in all directions to see how the egg will slide (something he could not do as easily if it were attached to the base). At first, I was also disappointed by this feature of the toy (although it does make it safer). But the challenge it creates in requiring the hard work of two steady hands is a good one for little ones to master. Furthermore, what a great, interactive way to first learn where eggs come from.

My son loves playing with this toy. Excellent craftsmanship.The only problem I have with the toy is the rod in the middle. I do see the reasoning for making it removable but it could still be a hazard and it makes it more difficult for my son to get the rings on since it will not stay in place without being held there.....

The Mama Chicken, as we francais-challenged Americans call her, is a delightful toy. The colors are warm and inviting, the construction and finishing is (of course) impeccable, and our daughter loves it. She loves to bang the discs together, and rap the discs with the funny, beaked head. One tiny caveat: make sure to watch your baby with the middle rod that holds the entire piece together.
