We love the big, chunky pieces that are easy for toddlers and preschoolers to hold and stack. We also like the designs on the blocks. They're child-friendly without being too cutesy. We love these animal blocks from Djeco. As many of the other reviews have stated they grow with your child. My children are 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 and they continue to play with them. My daughter the 4 1/2 year old especially loves to create silly looking animal combinations. They are well made and still look great after nearly a year of use.

These blocks are beautifully made, and perfect for toddler size hands; however, I think they're a bit difficult for children under 3 to use to create animals. My daughter is 22 months old, and she liked building creatively with these, but didn't have the attention span to sit and create the animals pictured on the box. Perhaps this is the magic of this toy--it grows with your child. My husband and I enjoyed building with these after our daughter went to bed!

As soon as I saw these blocks in animal shapes, I knew they were the perfect gift for my son's 4th birthday. A toy that combined blocks AND animals in one couldn't have been more perfect for my son whose two loves are animals and blocks! I couldn't keep him away from the present as soon as he saw the cute animal wrapping paper that Oompa toys provides as a service (for a small fee) and both he and his sister literally jumped for joy when he saw the pictures on the box. These toys may be geared toward even younger ages, but my 4 year old and 6 year old love them. Interestingly enough, my son insists on putting them away in each individual bag according to animal, which is a "classification lesson" in itself. I foresee that these blocks will be a few of the very special toys that will go into future keepsake boxes to be played with for generations.

These blocks are beautifully made and great for creative play. I bought them for my 1 year old, but her older sisters (5 & 4) love them too. They seem to have more fun creating animals with these than they do creating buildings with traditional blocks. They are also able to create things more easily on their own than with traditional blocks, where they often ask for help making things. They like making funny mixed up animals too. And the baby loves to knock them down and chew on them, and I'm not concerned with their safety. I was a tiny bit disappointed as the paint is a bit duller and thinner than some other high-end blocks, but they're still beautifully made and it doesn't detract from their quality.
