These original dolls by Kinderware defy traditional ideas of toy design, while at the same time, maintaining a connection with a historical past. These dolls remind us of something we might find strolling through outdoor markets, among stands filled with tropical fruits, tasty delicacies and handmade crafts. Each doll is made from numerous pieces of brightly colored and patterned fabric, sewn together in rings, and attached together of a string, with felt balls serving as the arms and feet, and a hand-stitched, patterned ball with rabbit ears to serve as the head. Though they look rather like a child, immobilized from wearing too many layers of snow pants, the dolls are in fact highly pliable and posable, due to their simple construction.
Yoyo dolls, as they are typically called, are traditional toys created since the turn of the last century by quilters, using the leftover fabrics from their quilts and sewing creations. Because they are hand-made, and created in the traditional manner, each doll is unique and made in its own original assortment of fabrics and colors.
