Sweet and Petite

At 4.5 x 5 x 4.25", this puppy pull along is smaller than many of its counterparts. He's also relatively lightweight. His features are simple and friendly. The springs at his neck and tail result in a satisfying wobble and wag that bring to mind a wiggly puppy, minus the mess.
Being petite is a plus for a pup looking to charm my 21-month-old twins. We quickly found that he could not only follow them, but also be comfortably held, carried, petted, and give imaginary play kisses like a real puppy.
Caramel has some body movement on the axle, so he moves smoothly, and corners well. The girls are learning that if they keep a shorter leash his cornering improves, and if he's being yanked or pulled too fast things don't go as well (like any puppy!). Because of his lightness, the children have to be quite gentle with him on their walks if they want to prevent tumbles. And when they aren't worried about "walking nicely", they soothe their puppy when he tumbles.
The only complaint I have about this toy is that the paint chipped on the nose and ears after just a couple days of play. To temper that, this company uses non-toxic paint and finishes. I tried picking at the paint where it was chipped with my fingernails and couldn't remove any additional finish, so it appears to be a cosmetic issue. But this toy is intended for children of an age that tend to put everything in their mouths, and chipped paint can make a mama nervous.
That said, my kids LOVE this toy, and his kitty cohort, Vanille. I would still recommend this, or give it as a gift.
