Surprisingly entertaining!
A viewer from Andover, MN
The Rainbow Curves set is a deceptively simple toy. My 2 1/2 year old loves rainbows, but when I first opened the box, I thought it might be too young for her. However, the clever, sloped design makes the toy challenging! Also, the simplicity of the blocks encourages her to use her imagination. Almost immediately, she began arranging them in circles. I hadn't even thought of that! As a mother, I appreciate the use of water-based paint. I had some initial concern the first time my daughter dropped one of the pieces and it chipped a little, but the damage was minor and the paint has held up well since. The pieces are lightweight, yet sturdy. Overall, I am highly impressed with the toy. I'll definitely look for Hape Toys in the future!

WAY Better Than Expected
A viewer from Bluffton, SC
Opening the box I was confused as to how these seemingly simple blocks would hold my wild toddler's attention. I took the "rainbow" out and set it up as a rainbow for him and then he tore it down. Immediately he wanted to make the rainbow himself but couldn't figure out how to since the curved pieces only allow the smaller pieces to fit inside if they are placed the "correct" way. When placed the other way, they form a tunnel. A tantrum started but he quickly realized he could do it himself and, even better, he could make more than just one thing with the pieces. He loves counting the pieces, naming the colors, and obviously building... especially when he makes a garage for his cars!

Cute, but not much fun.

This is one toy we own that never gets played with. Perhaps it is too young for my toddler, but the pieces don't stand up well and are always getting lost. They need to be used together in order to create something, and they are pretty lightweight, so they fall down easily. It is a really cute toy, but pretty boring to play with.
