Kapla was created in 1987 by Dutch art historian, Tom van der Bruggen. The concept of Kapla blocks is simple, each block is a plank in which the height to width to length ratio is 1:3:5. This ratio has opened new ways of building as the blocks are stable with no glue, no screws, etc. rather they are held in place by balance and gravity alone. Made of 100% untreated wood from pine forests in Les Landes, France, Kapla is not only a brilliant, educational product, but an eco-friendly one as well!
